Pool Deck Paint

By Chad Zhou

Epoxy paint is one of the strongest paints on concrete or basement floors, garage floors, workshop floors, showroom floors, laundry room floors and also in bars among other projects.

What is epoxy paint?

The process of applying epoxy paint starts with the preparation of your garage floor. Most of the epoxy coating failures i have witnessed are as a result of wrong or little surface preparation.

You will first need to clean the floor with a hard bristled brush and and then clear away any debris that will result.

Believe it or not, you will not even have to shell out a big amount of money just so you can get your hands on paint that you may use to refresh your surface. Since this kind of garage floor coating is fairly common, you may simply walk into a specialty store and buy a can for a very affordable price.

After you have immaculately cleaned your garage floor, you are ready to get this project started. It is best to apply the epoxy coating on a day when the weather is between 50 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit and when no rain is in the forecast, as moisture, heat and cold affect the paints ability to bond properly. Applying the paint outside of these conditions can cause bubbling and peeling.

The mild acid does not remove grease and oils from the garage floors. Make sure the rinsing water does not stick to the surface of the floor, if it sticks, then repeat the greasing process all over.

Epoxy paint can be different colors and you are able to texturize it with granules to give it a better grip. This is a great option to consider if you live in a state that has aggressive winters. Regardless of your personal preference, applying an epoxy coating to the floor creates a strong, durable seal that really makes the space look nice.
