A Guide To Online Personal Training

By Kyle Heier

People often say they want to get fit. They may sincerely want to do this and gleefully sign up for the gym. Inevitably after a while real life can get in the way and people find themselves saying that they do not have time to attend that aerobics class or go swimming. However with online personal training it is possible to find a way to include fitness as part of your busy schedule!

An online personal trainer works in a similar way to one that you may see in a gym or one that would come round to your home. They discuss your fitness goals and look at what you wish to achieve. Based on what you want to do they can then create a program that is best suited to achieving those goals.

Generally a lot of people say they want to lose weight. However there may be other types of goals. For example some people wish to tone up specific parts of their body. Others may want to be physically fitter in order to ensure they are in the starting line up of their team or to run a marathon.

Before you go on a program you have to realise that the effect will not be instant. It is about gradually building up. The difficulty with any short term approach is that inevitably people then stop doing the program and in this instance people not only put weight back on but often more so.

Therefore a better approach is to go with someone who offers a routine you can stick to. Often small steps can make a difference when you are looking to lose weight and lead a more active lifestyle. For example using the stairs instead of using the elevator can burn a few more calories or walking or riding a bike rather than taking a car journey to go shopping.

When people see the term online fitness program the immediate assumption is that it will be a one size fits all package. There is the fear that it will be done quickly so that anyone could follow it. However most professional instructors know that this rarely works because people are different and while this type of approach may work in the short term a more considered approach is needed in the long term.

It is then worth looking at how they approach your requirements. Often it will be about looking at your personal circumstances and seeing what you can do to meet your goals. For example a common desire is to eat better. However people may not have time to cook every night. A fitness professional can often give you recipes to cook at the start of the week that you can freeze and then eat quickly, in effect creating healthy ready meals.

You can find a number of instructors that offer their services online. As well as looking for the instructors and their websites you should also look for feedback and testimonials as well as asking people on social media who they have used and whether they think their program would work for you. This will make it easier to find something that will be best suited to your needs and make it easier for you to achieve your own personal fitness goals.
