Weight Loss Through Interval Training

In case you are looking for ways to enhance your fitness level and become stronger, you should certainly consider interval training, which is getting popular by the day. As a result of many studies, it has been realized that this kind of physical activity improves the level of fitness, encourages the loss of weight and enhances stamina. It is estimated that thirty minutes of this training can give you a total workout.
Getting started
You can get started your usual way, at a lower speed, and then progressively increase the tempo for five minutes, at least. The idea is to speed up your pulse rate.
This can be checked manually by counting the pulse rate for 15 seconds, and then multiplying that number by four. Most cardiovascular machines are equipped with heart rate monitors, but when training outdoors, you may purchase a heart rate monitor from one of the sports stores. Using a heart rate monitor during the training helps you to control the process and thus track your progress.
During high intensity effort, the ability of your body to exchange carbon dioxide and oxygen is diminished and you start feeling the 'burn', while the body gets rid of lactic acid and the muscles start losing their power. You will find it extremely difficult to continue maintaining the intensity at that level for prolonged periods of time.
Once your muscles start getting tired, you need to reduce the level of intensity to a stage where you can maintain it for long. However, it is important not to slow down that much, in order to keep the pulse at an acceptable rate. You need to follow this process of waxing and waning for a minimum of thirty minutes. Initially, the duration of high intensity phase should be smaller than the recovery periods.
Beginner's Interval Workout
You may walk for four minutes, followed by running for one minute - during the initial phase of this training. Gradually, when becoming more fit, you should enhance the time spent for the periods of high intensity.
Do not force yourself to a too long duration of high activity, as it could prove to be dangerous.
What makes it superior?
Time saver
You may have realized that despite your best intentions, many times you are unable to proceed with your exercise schedule just because you lacked the required time. Interval training offers the best solution. The results that you may expect from any traditional workout can be achieved by spending about half the time on interval training.
It allows you to easily improve your level of performance
It is not that traditional proven exercises are not as good as interval training, but if the former fails to bring any noticeable change to your physical state, you need to try something different and new. By including interval training in your routine of workout, every week you'll feel that now your body is ready to go to the next level.
It helps breaking monotony
When feeling bored with any routine, you can choose to do some different kind of exercises. You may not use weight machines at all and changeover to just free weights. The significant advantage of this training is the fact that it benefits you for the period of transition from one exercise to another. It's fun as you go through the series of low and high intensity work, rather than doing any one activity for prolonged intervals of time.
It's simple
You may complete the whole workout without shifting from one point. You can make your own set of rules, depending on the signals conveyed by your body, and yet burn a significant amount of calories. Your body starts working like a fat burning machine as you keep pushing yourself further than whatever level you may have achieved doing any traditional workout repeatedly.
