"Cinnamon" - The Wonder Spice Can Help You Lose Weight
This is an article on the many benefits that the spice Cinnamon offers you on your weight loss journey. Put it in your tea to help reduce the fats in your intestines after eating. I always have a nice hot tea with cinnamon after dinner. * In medicine, it acts like other volatile oils and once had a reputation as a cure for colds.
* It has also been used to treat diarrhea and other problems of the digestive system.
* Cinnamon is high in antioxidant activity. It has been reported that it can help lower your cholesterol. Half a teaspoon of cinnamon daily may lower cholesterol. It may also lower LDL "bad" cholesterol, triglycerides (which are fatty acids in the blood) and total cholesterol.
* The essential oil of cinnamon also has antimicrobial properties, which can aid in the preservation of certain foods
* Cinnamon has been reported to have remarkable pharmacological effects in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes.
* Treats type 2 diabetes, by reducing blood sugar levels. As little as 1/2 teaspoon per day of cinnamon can improve sensitivity and blood glucose. In weight control it can improve insulin resistance. Also decreases the risk of heart disease.
* Reduces arthritis pain. It contains anti-inflammatory compounds that can reduce pain, inflammation and stiff joints.
* In the digestive tract it can be helpful in removing gas from the stomach and intestines. It also removes acidity and is referred to as a digestive tonic.
* It even has anti-clotting properties. A compound found in it prevents unwanted clumping of blood platelets. As you may know if platelets clump together they can slow the flow of blood.
* It's a brain tonic. It helps by removing nervous tension and memory loss. Cinnamon raises the activity of the brain acting as a good brain tonic. Increases your alertness and concentration.
*Food Preserver; when added to food, it prevents bacterial growth and food spoilage, making it a natural food preservative. We use it in our Joan Diet Bars recipe.
* It's a diuretic and reduces urinary track infections. As a diuretic it help in secretion and discharge of urine and fats in the blood. You may not realize it, but we lose most of our weight through our urine.
* Improves blood circulation due to its blood thinning agent that acts to increase circulation.
* It helps reduce pain. Ensures oxygen supply to the body cells leading to higher metabolic activity, thereby helping you lose weight.
* Sprinkle it on your oatmeal in the morning. In your tea after dinner ti will do wonders for you digestive track and immune system. It also has anti=aging properties.
* A word of caution taking too much cinnamon may be unwise. People taking prescribed drugs to manage their blood sugar should not reduce or discontinue their dosages and take only cinnamon instead. Lastly, it is not recommended for pregnant women.
* Cinnamon has traditionally been used to treat toothache and fight bad breath and its regular use is believed to stave off common cold and aid digestion.
* Recent research documents anti-melanoma activity of cinnamon observed in cell culture and a mouse model of human melanoma. When it comes to antioxidant power, cinnamon is at the top of the list alongside blueberries and pomegranate juice. Antioxidants in cinnamon have been linked to lower inflammation, as well as reductions in blood glucose concentrations in people with diabetes.
