Review of The Master Cleanse Diet

Master Cleanse Review:
Demystifying the World's Most Popular Detox Diet
Dr. Stanley Burroughs, the creator of the Master Cleanse Diet, was an avid believer in the extraordinary ability of the human body to heal itself. It is a common belief among most alternative health practitioners.
Our Dr. Burroughs was a little bit of an extremist, as he actually completely disliked the idea of taking any medication for any condition or ailment: Period. However we cannot overlook the fact that tens of thousands of people all over the world has already reported excellent results from following his Master Cleanse Diet. That surely must count for something, don't you think?
I would be honored to know that this is your first introduction to The Master Cleanse diet (thank you). If so, or if you may have heard of it before, and are also anxious to find out as much as you can about the diet, please allow me to give you a brief introduction to (what some call miracle) Master Cleanse Diet.
Ready? Fasten your seat belts, please raise your seat into the upright position and hold on. Here we go:
  • The Master Cleanse Diet requires us to fast for exactly 10 days (yes, you heard me right, TEN). This fasting involves avoidance of ALL kinds of solid food, as in anything solid. This includes Whole Grains, Meat, Fish, Vegetables, Cheese etc. etc. etc. You can see where I'm going with this, right? Even Dairy will have to be banned for the duration of the cleansing diet.
  • While we undergo the cleansing diet, we are required to drink at least 12 servings of the Cleanser Lemonade. We will learn how to concoct this Lemonade drink in another post dedicated to The Master Cleanse Recipe. Just to give you an idea, the Cleanser Lemonade consists of: Lemons, Cayenne Pepper, Purified Water and Maple Syrup - Yummm!!!It is recommended that we take our Lemonade Cleanser roughly every two hours during the day, nothing wrong with increasing the number of servings according to Dr. Burroughs.
  • Weight loss will occur, regardless of the number of servings of lemonade. The GREAT thing is that during the Master Cleanse, our bodies will be discarding extra stores of body fat and excessive water retained by our bodies.
On average one can expect to lose between five and ten pounds during the Master Cleanse. Of course much higher weight loss numbers are reported all the time, but I like to look at averages, and not get my hopes up too high.
So, what are people saying about The Master Cleanse Diet?
Let's investigate:
It is great to know that most people from all over the world agree that this diet is relatively easy to follow and get through, and that they feel much lighter and a lot more energetic after the cleanse.
I have decided to rather focus on the NEGATIVE in this post than the positive. A simple Google search will supply you with thousands and thousands of reports and blogs and posts which will tell you how wonderful and amazing The Master Cleanse is. In trying to be as objective as possible, I am sharing some of the important negative issues that we should know about.
Issue # 1: The hunger pangs are hard to control.
I had a very hard time the first three to four days on The Master Cleanse. I felt hungry many times. It is a well documented fact that after day 4 at the latest, the hunger will dissipate, and I can confirm this. The easiest way to deal with the hunger is to simply drink some of the Lemonade. If it hasn't been two hours since your last drink, go for it, just have more. There is no limit on how much of the Lemonad we drink, remember.
It is actually quite difficult to go over your calories just by drinking your special lemonade, so feel free to indulge if it will help reduce the cravings for solid food.
Issue # 2: The saltwater cleanse is not working as promised.
The saltwater cleanse is a vital component of the Master Cleanse diet. If you are not getting immediate results, it's possible that you need to adjust the parameters of the salt solution. Reduce the amount of salt or increase the volume of the water. The minimum amount of water for a saltwater flush is a little over a quart (1 liter to be exact). Do not skimp on the water, please.
Issue # 3: The diet is too hard, and it's unrealistic.
The feeling of being close to giving up is brought about by the sudden disappearance of solid food. If the monotony of the diet is killing you, you can eat a spoonful of maple syrup or peanut butter. However, you must control yourself, and you must not literally eat the entire jar of peanut butter, no matter how hungry you may feel.
I am not a great fan of self inflicted punishment, trust me, and some times it did feel like punishment. But I can assure you, once you went through the cleanse once, and after day 4 especially, things DO GET EASIER!
If you are considering doing TheMaster Cleanse, I strongly suggest you FIRST PREPARE YOUR MIND, and then your body. The mind is so much more powerful than we could ever imagine.
