Two Ways To Put Money Back In Your Pocket During A Remodel

By Kristina Riggs

The main reason I put this duo of Two Ways to Put Money Back in Your Pocket during a Remodel is because I feel bad for the families that seem so overwhelmed by a renovation. A remodeling project does not have to be associated with a bad thing, especially when the buyers have applied and been approved for a 203K loan along with the purchase of their new home. For those of you who do not know; a 203K is a fabulous financing option for those who chose to buy a fixer upper.

* Know your Community: So you have decided to start with a basic bathroom remodel? Before you just decide to tear everything out of your bathroom and trash it, call the local Habitat for Humanity and let them do the work for you. There are several reasons to do this. Mainly because it is estimated that around 85% of a home is reusable, so why not let someone else benefit from your rejected items.

Once you have contacted a chapter and they have decided to come do a bathroom tear out for you it should make you feel pretty good seeing how much is kept out of the landfill in the long run. And not to mention the thought of the big tax credit you will be filing at the end of the year! This is the first of the Two Ways to Put Money Back in Your Hands during a Remodel, I can not wait to share the second one.

* Friends in the Remodeling Business Sure Could Help: This tip is all about who you know! There are some building contractors that are offering DIY classes to individuals in their home. They often charge an hourly wage and supply the material to teach you. Once you have learned the trade, you can do it on your own.

There is a recent case I know of where a woman hired a consultant to show her how to put drywall up in a bedroom. She paid him $300 and he saved her over $1000 just by showing her and guiding her through it. Now that he has taught her, she will do the next project herself, saving more money!

On a very personal note these are only two of thousands of tips I have learned. These are only Two Ways to Put Money Back in Your Pocket during a Bathroom Remodel, can you imagine what else you could find online that you never thought of before. You will certainly find ways to save money on labor and materials, if you keep updated on my bogs and newsletters as well.
