Most states require a PhD. In the field before he can be licensed. With a master s degree he can qualify for a position as a parole officer, which is a branch of the legal system. Counseling troubled youths and working for a research firm are also possible positions he can fill.

If a trained forensic psychologist is not also versed in the law, he is of no use on the witness stand in court. There are specific things that can and cannot be said in court. Incorrect answers can damage his credibility and answering correctly, but saying too much can provide an advantage to the opposing side.
