Becoming A Successful House Cleaner

By Morton Chase

Becoming a successful house cleaner goes beyond having the ability to wield a mop and bucket through someone's house and collect a payslip at the day's end. There is a lot more involved with beginning a cleaning business and house cleaners must do a lot more to earn money than most people realize. In addition to being a fastidious cleaner, they must also be very good business owners and bosses.

Set up a business plan. Before boarding on the particular business, you have to have a plan. How many hours per week to wish on working? Remember that the average home will take four hours to wash and, if you spend a half hour driving from one house to the next , you might be spending three hours a day driving. The quantity of hours you spend driving doesn't count toward how many hours you spend working hence while that does figure into the costs piece of your BP, it doesn't figure into your working hours.

Here's where many business owners get irritated because they'd like to leave their home at 9:00am and get home at 5:00pm. The truth of the matter is that nobody, not even people who own their own firms, work a 9:00am to 5:00pm workday. That's a dream, so you might as well remove that from your business plan now. If you'd like to keep your days to an eight hour work day, add at least 2 or 3 hours of driving time in there just as an appraisal. If you can get your roles closer together, than that is better for you.

Find an accountant. If you have never owned a business during the past, it is a very good idea to hire an accountant to do your taxes for you. That way, you are certain you are claiming all your costs properly and you are working out all of your discounts accurately.

Build up a staff. In the beginning, to keep the expenses down, you'll be working alone. This is going to mean you are going to be working long days and hard hours. Working on building up a cleaning business is complicated, especially when you start off with only two of houses. You need to impress your first few shoppers as fast as you can so they recommend you to their acquaintances and family. The sooner that occurs, the earlier you can hire on a staff.

Initially, you'll be able to afford to hire on one further person to work alongside you when you go on all your jobs. This will finally work up to hiring one or two additional folk. Then, as your business continues to grow, you will be able to hire on additional folks. Most cleaning firms take years before they can hire on a full crew. Therefore bide your time with the procedure. It is better to ramp up your business slowly so you can be totally certain your clients are going to remain with you long term. Because house cleaning is a variable business, it is tricky to decide who will be short-term and who will be long-term clients.
