Basic Guide To Home Painting Bend OR

By Nora Jennings

The three-year course is completed with the final apprenticeship examination. This test will provide information about whether the candidate is ready so that the certificate of competence may be granted as a skilled tradesman for home painting Bend OR. After two, or four years of professional practice and the corresponding knowledge which are acquired voluntarily in training schools, the tests for foreman may be taken.

A painter is the person responsible for the application of paint on a building. It covers the walls and ceilings, they master the art of finishing and refurbishing homes. The workman must recognize and know how to prepare any type of surface such as concrete, plaster, wood, brick, metal to get the required finish. The various preparations will result in clean, sound and smooth flat surface ready to receive paint.

The work takes place both locally (exterior and interior), in shops, homes, factories, bridges, stadiums. Now workmen increasingly spray booths and coating lines on ladders or scaffolding (facades, large objects). The commercial decorating extends from small business to industrial applications. Some areas of this craft are also carried out by other professional groups: Interior / interior (carpeting and wallpaper). Plasterer, background artist, decorative painter.

The job description of painter and decorator is divided into two subject areas: design and maintenance (painter and decorator) and structural and corrosion protection. The disciplines have the same training content according to the regulations during the first two years. Differentiation takes place during the third year of training. There is also a two-year training program for buildings culminating in a qualification test, which is identical to the intermediate examination of regular painters and finishers.

It can also result in a professional re-orientation to a training course in an AFPA center. In 1989, this course lasted about 8 months (39 hrs/week ), and in addition to painting, included coverage of other construction related trades such as glazing . The diploma is an equivalent of CAP painter, it is quite appreciated by artisans and companies. It is a dual training, which takes place mainly in companies (learning master) which are approved by the competent authorities.

For speed and efficiency, the painter can use a vacuum sander (electric sander with sandpaper on head) to prepare surfaces before painting or wallpapering, always for the same purpose: to obtain a smooth, flawless surface. This machine, with its long handle, can easily reach the ceilings.

At the end of these three years, apprentices are assessed through an examination lasting three days for the practical part and one day for the theoretical part in which they perform various representative works. These exams are developed jointly by the State and professional associations.

Apprentices who complete their training successfully are awarded a CFC (Certificate of Competence). These courses are modular for obtaining various titles namely, a certificate of team leader, a patent foreman and a degree of master painter. Module team leader and foreman are essentially based on practice with some lectures. Module mastery based on the theory and professional conduct.
