Diva is the term used for the Female wrestlers in the WWE; it is a way of promoting the female performers of the franchise. It is a term used to refer not only to the wrestlers but also the managers or valets, the backstage interviewers even the ring announcers. It is said that the main slogan of the WWE divas is Sexy, Smart and Powerful.
The region of professional wrestling in North America changed forever in the middle of the 1990s. It was the time when the World Wrestling Federation and World Championship were more focussed towards the Monday Night Wars. What WWF did is to increase the company's rating for such programs it made the introduction of the female performers who were otherwise known as the Divas. The impact of the decision is still visible on the WWF programming as the female wrestlers are still found to be talented inside the ring along with being models and actresses.
First diva that we have is Christy Hemme, she was a part of the WWE federation. After becoming the winner of the first diva search, the red headed Diva joined WWE. She was found to be spunky and had a very charismatic persona. She got famous after she appeared on the playboy magazine which gave a boost to his career. The wrestling highlight of her time was the Wrestle Mania 21, which was fought against another great Diva Trish Status. She also became the TNA Knockout of the Year and then continued to be in TNA wrestling.
Then we have Mickie James another Diva champion. She did win the WWE women championship 4 times. After the departure of the Trish stratus, Mickie became the most loved female wrestler of the WWE. She was the top rank holder of the Pro Wrestling Illustrated of the female wrestlers. She was and still considered to be the fans favourite and continued to have a long wrestling career.
Talking about mic skills, the only person you would like to have on the mic is Dean Ambrose. He is also considered as one of the best all-rounders of WWE. He made a terrific effort in the Wrestle mania this year and also in the match with Seth Rollins for the championship title in a ladder match.
Loewen was one of those performers who were given a shot by the WWE during a time when the recruiter were looking for models more than the organisation was searching for the females who had an athletic backgrounds. She was one among the women who failed to have success with WWE but she did make some amazing appearances in the televised broadcasts.
Askana is another female wrestler or the Wrestling Diva, who had a pretty long run with the WWE Company. However she was found to not have succeeded a lot as she was found to be a part of several story lines. The only story line that allowed her to be a part of the main roster couldn't impress the fans. She was also considered of not being a good in ring performer and hence the company cut of the ties with her.
Lastly its Candice Michelle, she was a lacklustre in ring performer at best and an awful wrestler. She made it in the practice sessions and also in the matches on the road. She later became the most favoured Diva of the WWE. She was said to be the next Trish stratus she move forward to win the Women's championship title and touch several height with WWE.
