Comparing Natural Alternatives To Prescription Drugs

By Elaine Guthrie

In the advent of modern science most people tend to overlook herbal medicine and some only view this form of medicine as an inferior version of treatment. But the truth of the matter arises whenever we think about our fore fathers. In all cases, they did not have the modern technology we have currently. They used herbal medicines to treat the diseases they had back then, despite the fact that we have these modern science we have to acknowledge the fact that natural alternatives to prescription drugs works.

Modern medication has proved to be fast and effective in terms of treating the set disease, but the flip side of prescribed drugs is the side effects. Many of the prescribed drugs come with side effects that many people do not think about, they range from addictions to headaches and some even lead to formation of other diseases. These side effects are not a common issue among the users of raw medication. This is because natural remedies have no remnants in the body that may cause the side effects.

Most natural alternatives to prescribed medicine are free and in the case that they are not free they are relatively cheaper than the other option. The factor of cost comes into play due to the process of manufacturing, storing and distribution of these medication. In cases of raw drugs these costs are rarely applicable or are applicable in a minor way.

Prescribed drugs are made in a way that they only achieve their intended purpose, they only treat or cure what they were made to do. In alternative sources this is not exactly the case. The alternatives being natural in nature tend to have add on. Like in the case of a plant based cure they have the ability to cure the intended illness and also have the ability to add more minerals to the system unlike the prescribed medication.

A natural alternative to skin conditions like rashes is the aloe Vera plant. The prescribed drug would be a sulphur based treatment, on one hand aloe Vera does not only treat the rashes but it smoothens the skin and kills bacteria. If the sulphur based treatment would be used the rashes would heal in a burnt like manner since sulphur reacts with the skin in order to treat it thus leaving the burn like scars. This happens in sulphur cases unlike in the aloe Vera despite the fact that both methods heal.

Massive intake of prescribed drugs is harmful to the health of any individual and it may at times be fatal and on the other hand when one takes the drugs in partiality then they may not get well. Non-artificial medication rarely has such side effects, since its like food. When one takes in too much they are rarely affected so it it when they take too little and at the end of the dosage they still get well.

Current medical practitioners are also using natural means to cure and treat, like the use of leaches to suck excess blood during operations is a very common practice.

Currently the number of users of these remedies is slowly rising. This is due to the awakening of people to the advantages of using natural medication.
