Moving Forward With Creative Arts Therapy NJ

By Susan Gray

Some psychologists struggle to connect with their patients because of trust issues. This could be because of a lot of trauma that they have suffered in their lives. Children also battle to open up. This is where creative arts therapy NJ is useful. Therapists have been trained and are experienced to help clients express themselves in a creative way.

This can be effective for trauma patients, children, those with attention deficit disorder, autism as well as a range of other issues. It is mainly used for patients who have trouble expressing themselves and for people who battle connecting with another therapist where communicating may be a struggle.

It can help if one includes this into the daily routine. However, folks have to be disciplined with this. With regards to children, parents have to assist in helping them keep a schedule. It is especially helpful to start the day drawing or listening to music. This will help get rid of stress or any extra energy that builds up and causes problems during the day.

Children will work with their fingers, drawing lines and working in different styles using a number of techniques. Therapists have been trained to analyze their projects and can assess this by looking at the lines and styles. They may ask them to draw a family portrait or a dream that they have had. They can also tell a thing or two by the time it too to complete the project.

Children may draw their families or a recent dream that they have experienced. Therapists are trained and experienced to analyze what kids are trying to say in the project by looking at the line and the time it took them to complete the painting. The lines will tell one a lot. The colors of the drawing will also give one a better picture of what is going on.

Therapists are trained to know what is going on with someone by looking at a project. They can tell this by looking at the style of the drawing, for example. Some children will use various colors or lines. They will take draw family portraits or a dream that can be analyzed. Someone with a lot of trauma in their lives will have problems on a day to day basis because they will be constantly focusing on their problems. They may not be able to talk to someone because they often have trust issues. Many therapists suggest that they keep a journal and write about what is on their mind. This creative process can be very helpful.

Of course, it can also be a challenge because as one writes, the repressed memories will creep up and this will create anxiety and panic. This is all part of the therapeutic process. Many patients start to develop a bond with the therapist during this time when they are struggling and the trust will begin to develop as the relationship is established. This sort of journaling is something that one should be immersed in on a day to day basis in order to move forward.
